Metchosin Grown Society invites community members, local businesses, and partners to support a shared commitment to community well-being, local food security, and hands-on agricultural learning.

We operate the community garden at the Metchosin School Site—an inclusive, volunteer-driven space where people of all ages come together to grow food, build skills, and strengthen connections within our community.

Our Most Pressing Need: Garden Perimeter Fence

As the garden continues to grow, completing a wildlife-resistant perimeter fence is our most urgent priority.

The fence is essential to:

• Protect crops from wildlife damage

• Reduce food loss and volunteer rework

• Support safe, accessible programming and workshops

• Ensure the long-term sustainability of the garden

This project is being led and built by volunteers, with funds raised going directly toward materials and essential infrastructure.
 

How Your Support Helps

In addition to the fence project, community support helps us maintain and improve the garden through:

• Irrigation components that support efficient, drought-resilient watering

• Shared tools and equipment for volunteer and educational use

• Materials and skilled or in-kind support for site improvements

Every contribution—financial, material, or in-kind—helps strengthen the garden and expand access to local food-growing opportunities.

A Community-Led, Volunteer-Driven Effort

Metchosin Grown Society is a provincially registered non-profit society with a volunteer board and active membership. Our work aligns with the District of Metchosin’s Agriculture Plan and reflects the community’s long-standing commitment to local agriculture and shared stewardship.

With community support, we can continue to grow food, offer workshops, and build a resilient, welcoming garden space for all.
